Well, it’s time for an update!
This past week (August 2) marked the first time that we have gathered together as a church in more than 4 months. What a blessing! And while it may have been odd to some, to have pews roped off and people sitting so far apart, it was good to see how many attended. Let’s be honest, it was just good to see one another. The highlight, however, was opening God’s Word with you; being able to share His truth. I thank God for His Word. That it goes out and never returns empty, but will accomplish all that He desires, and achieve the purpose for which He sends it. I pray that you will always walk in His ways, for His Word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path.
Well, let me share a couple of things that are coming up. First, on August 16th Mike and Carla Woods will be joining us here at Grace. Mike, as you know is the dean of men at Word of Life Bible Institute. He will not only share what God has been doing there in the midst of this global Pandemic; he will open God’s Word as well. Rebecca and I, however, will need to catch the service online as we will be away. This brings me to a second item.
Through much investigation and effort on the part of our technical team we have purchased a new camera to record the morning service. It is our intent to continue recording the worship service ongoing. However, what that means is we will be recording Sunday mornings, then uploading the video Sunday afternoon and hopefully getting that out to you no later than Monday morning. It means a change in our routines (like we haven’t had enough of that lately). Still, we hope the quality of recording will be much better. A big thanks to Stephen, Dave, and Ben Fekete for working through the details and making this happen. I would also be remiss if I did not thank the ladies who manage our website, Facebook page and email system. You know who you are, and I know some of you did not want to be mentioned. We could not do ministry as we are without you. It is good to see God’s people using their gifts and talents to serve Him; to further His Kingdom. Again, thank you!
Third, On August 28th Grace will be holding a drive-in movie night. We will be playing Despicable Me 3. We have taken the necessary guidelines under advisement and will set up the parking lot for 20 cars. This should enable us to stay within the 100-person maximum for an outside gathering. Look for the on-line Invite. It will be coming to you soon.
Lastly, we are currently taking steps towards a concert and box lunch this fall. Social distancing will be in effect unless these guidelines have changed by then. Look for more information in the near future. These are some the events we have planned to help as we regather. Pray for wisdom and guidance as we proceed. Pray the Lord keeps all his children healthy and safe.
Well, that’s all for now. I would ask you to remember one another in prayer. Reach out to each other by phone. Have a coffee while observing the current guidelines. Better yet, join us for prayer on Sunday evenings at 7pm.
the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
Love in Christ,
Pastor Mike
